I had you at “Hello”

Imagine falling in love with the perfect person.
The butterflies.
The atmosphere.
The little things they do that make you smile inside and bring about an unusual but warming feeling inside.
The air is thick with love and amusement as you figure out they are all you’ve ever wanted and couldn’t imagine not being with them.
Imagine how their eyes pierce straight to your heart.
How can one look steal away your heart so easily?

This is exactly how God feels about us!

“You have ravished My heart
With one look of your eyes” (Song of Solomon 4:9)

“Your lips.. drip as the honeycomb;
Honey and milk are under your tongue;
And the fragrance of your garments
Is like the fragrance of Lebanon” (Song of Solomon 4:11)

Only one look and we steal away the heart of God! We completely ravish His heart! There is nothing He wouldn’t do for us. He clearly went to the extreme of sending His son! But check this out.. Everything we say is like honey to God when we speak to Him. Even our presence melts Him! Just being before Him and just sitting and enjoying who He is completely captures His heart.

A lot of the time we’re distracted by the things we feel like we have to do to gain God’s favor when God would clearly favor us more if we just sat and enjoyed Him! We can never do anything to earn His favor! Our righteousness is nothing but filthy rags before Him! But our filthy and broken hearts and desperate prayers are the sweetest scent to Him!

We have no problem giving away our money to the church. Ten percent is nothing. But why is ten percent of our time harder to give? Would we rather pay God than know God? Would we rather add to God’s treasury than store up the treasure of His heart inside us?
Beloved, this is a serious truth we are faced with these days. Very serious. How do we expect to enjoy God for eternity if it’s such a chore for us here on earth?

“Oh, but Steven we’ll have eternity to know God”
Great. I’m sure if we applied that mentality to everything we would have GREAT relationships.

“Sorry dear. Let’s just do this whole date thing later. Here, take $100”

Beloved, God doesn’t need our money! It’s the heart He is after! God values ten percent of our time MUCH more than 90 percent of our money! What we are saying is that now that Jesus died we can pay the church, read the occasional verse here and there throughout the day and then we’re set!

Beloved, if we want to reach the lost and inspire a revival and a life of extravagant worship we need to live what we preach! We know all the right things to do but we don’t do them! God is searching for those to give His heart to. And no, ten minutes a day wont get you the very heart of God. It takes hours everyday. No wonder David said,

“Wait on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your hear;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!”

When is the last time we really waited in His presence to know His heart? God is completely melted by our presence. Would you still turn Him down knowing that every second of every day He is breaking and exploding with desire to know you more and for you to know Him more? God’s heart is a rushing river of pleasure and it runs and pumps for us to know the intimate and deep things of who He is!
Beloved, Take time to be ravished by God’s heart as He is eternally and continually ravished by yours.
